Childrens Defense Fund-The Voice for All

Below is an e-mail i received form the Children"s Defense Fund. I wanted to highlight the successful outcome of just one of the campaigns CDF brought to the attention of millions of people regarding a very important and vital issue, that if not for the voices of people like you and i, would have had a devastating effect on millions of families.

Dear Marie:

Good news! Your calls were counted — your voices were heard! Today the Senate passed legislation by a vote of 75-22 to delay seven harmful Bush Administration Medicaid regulations. These regulations jeopardize vital health services to millions of children, including children who are low-income, disabled, those with special health needs, and foster youth. Now the measure goes back to the House of Representatives for a vote after Memorial Day. Protecting Medicaid is a critical step in the Healthy Child Campaign to ensure every child and pregnant woman access to affordable, seamless, comprehensive health coverage and services. Find out how your Senator voted!

I would personally like to thank CDF for their ongoing dedication to families and children worldwide and to all of you who made your voices heard, Thank you, so much.

Child Alert System-Family Protection

Did you know that nearly 800,000 children disappear each year?, that is one child, every 40 seconds and whether we choose to ignore these statistics and view them as something that happens to "other" people, the very sad reality is, that it can happen to any one of us, at any given time.

As parents, we do our best to protect and safeguard our children,in the hopes of assuring they will remain safe and secure. We try to educate them, as best we can on how to avoid the dangers that unfortunately are lurking on every corner, especially in today's society.

Childalertsystem confronts these very real statistics by offering parents and caregivers a way to be prepared in the event that their child goes missing.Childalertsystem provides many resources, such as:

*Storage of your child's information on a secure server
* Notifying contacts on something they call Kid Blast
*Storing your information on your hard drive

*Offering DNA analysis, identity and fingerprints kits.

* Working along side the proper authorities, trained to handle these types of situations.

No parent or caregiver should ever be forced to face these kinds of situations and my personal wish is that we never do, but, now, with Childalertsystem we can at least be prepared.

Education For All- Help Shape Their Future

Around the world, 72 million school-age children are not in school. The Education for All Act would commit the United States to investing in a comprehensive strategy to help these children get access to basic education, and break devastating cycles of poverty in the developing world.

I just took action with the ONE Campaign and asked my member of Congress to co-sponsor the Education for All Act. You can too, here:

By helping to shape their minds,we're helping to shape their future, resulting in a better world for all.

World Hunger Crisis- A Tragic Fact

In just 3 years , prices for the very basic staples of life ( wheat, rice ,corn) has risen by an unbelievable, 83%

For people living in developing countries, being able to afford enough food to feed their families is a daily struggle.
A very sad and deplorable fact was reported by the N.Y.Times, stating that people living in Haiti, are eating cakes of mud, mixed with a little sugar and oil, just to attempt to rid themselves of hunger pangs.

If immediate action isn't taken,to stop this upward spiral of food prices, 100 million people around the world, already living in poverty, will find themselves more impoverished than they already are.Not to mention the hundreds of thousands who will be forced to confront, famine and starvation .

The One org has more than 100,000 petition signers, who have urged President Bush to solve this hunger crisis
by making it a top priority on his agenda at a summit meeting in Japan, this July.

All of us can take part in helping One reach their new goal of 200,000 petition signers, urging the
President to rally and take emergency action against hunger.

Won't you please take the time to sign this petition and help fight this world hunger
crisis? One.org

On Saturday, May 10, Campbell Soup Company will join forces with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) to Stamp Out Hunger! across America . Now in its 16 th year, the Stamp Out Hunger! effort is the nation's largest single-day food drive, having collected more than 836 million pounds of food since its inception in 1993.

To help Stamp Out Hunger! this year, simply leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal next to your mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on May 10. Food items should be in non-breakable containers, such as boxes and cans. The nation's 230,000 letter carriers will then collect donations from homes across the country and deliver them to food bank members of America 's Second Harvest – The Nation's Food Bank Network and other hunger relief organizations in more than 10,000 local communities.

Madeliene Mccann-Still Missing

Madeleine Mccann was abducted on May 3rd 2007 in Praia da Luz, Portugal, 9 days before her 4th birthday. She was taken from her parents apartment, reportedly from her bedroom where, along with Madeliene , her younger brother slept as well. Her parents were not in the apt at the time and were seen dining 50 yds away from the girls bedroom.Although the parents actions in leaving these children alone, regardless of how close they were to the child's sleeping quarters, is in my opinion, inexcusable and terribly dangerous, the fact is this is an innocent 4 year old child who despite a massive investigation led by the Portuguese police and supported by the British police, is still missing and whoever is responsible for abducting her, should be brought to justice and afford those who love and care for her, the opportunity for some sort of closure to this mystery. The family has also hired private investigators, based in Spain, who are following up on any and all leads in their attempt to find this little girl and the mystery that surrounds her disappearance.

The parents believe that if the issue involving the disappearance of Madeleine can remain visible to the public at large, it could greatly assist in the search for this little girl.

I along with many others would like to suggest that bloggers and website owners incorporate
banners, posters, and buttons into your blogs or web pages .You will be able to locate these at the following locations.
